Springtime in the Royal Botanic Gardens
Reviewed by Cristian, on a lunchtime escape from the CAE.
Lunchbreak? Morning or Afternoon off? Time to hop on a tram for the natural beauty of one of the finest gardens in the Southern Hemisphere. If you havn't been for a while, you'll be amazed by the fantastic seasonal displays and new landscapes complementing the original gardens.
Skip that cafe and bring a thermos (what?), tell your friends to meet you there -- you'll feel better after being cooped up in that office. Explore a slice of Queensland in the native Rainforest Walk; visit Southern California today in the desert garden, or take the traditional route around the Ornamental Lake, inspired by European garden idealists.

I recently rediscovered the RBV a month ago when I went elephant hunting with my daughter (searching for the three sculptures of Mali that were hidden there). It was early Spring and the air was heavy with perfume from exotic trees. I couldn't help wondering why I hadn't spent more time there. A picnic sounds great, and I do have a thermos (which normally accompanies me to the footy, but it is very versatile). I might just take your advice this weekend.
ReplyDeleteYou should, and avoid the football at all costs!
